DescriptionEnter a fantasy world of ancient technology in Paladins, a team-based shooter with strategy elements and deep character customization. Through a unique collectible card system, players can amplify and augment a character’s core set of abilities to play exactly how they want to play.
Champions are the playable characters in Paladins. Each one has its own unique abilities and fighting style. Champions use Cards to increase their performance and enhance their skills.
Champions are organized into 4 different types: Front Line, Damage, Support and Flank.
Every champion possesses a unique weapon, 4 skills, and a special skill called Ultimate. Ultimate skills are not subject to cooldown, but instead have a meter that must be charged before they can be used. This meter passively gains a 1% charge every 3.33s but can be actively increased by dealing damage to enemies and restoring the missing health of allies. Landing a killing blow on an enemy with a high killstreak grants an additional 10% ultimate charge for each killstreak after the 5th. Using an ultimate will deplete the meter, allowing it to recharge.
New players start with 5 champions unlocked by default: Cassie, Fernando, Pip, Skye and Viktor. Players also get 4 additional champions temporarily from a rotating schedule. The free rotation is changed every 2 weeks.
Additional champions can be purchased for either Currency Gold.png Gold or Currency Crystals.png Crystals. The majority of the cast costs 7500 Currency Gold.png / 200 Currency Crystals.png to unlock while the most recently released champions cost 12500 Currency Gold.png. A few champions (such as Buck and Grohk) cost 5000 Currency Gold.png / 150 Currency Crystals.png instead. All players that participated in the game's closed beta before April 7, 2016 were given all champions that were available back then for free.
The Founder's Pack includes the Champion Pack, which automatically unlocks all current and future Champions in the game.
Each champion has their own Mastery Level, which increases the more they are played. Achieving new levels with a champion grants special rewards.
Players are required to have at least 12 owned champions to access Ranked.
These champions excel at maintaining control of objectives and protecting their teammates. Front Line champions gain 100% more Currency Credits.png Credits for standing near an objective.
These champions can consistently deal high amounts of damage. Damage champions gain 100% more Currency Credits.png Credits for dealing damage to enemy champions.

These champions offer a wide range of utility, both offensive and defensive. Support champions gain 100% more Currency Credits.png Credits for healing allies. Support champions also gain ultimate charge from healing done to teammates besides themselves. Healing that restores 0 Health (example, healing someone who is at full health) won't provide ultimate charge.
These champions excel at chasing and confirming kills from the enemy's rear. Flank champions gain 30% more Currency Credits.png Credits from landing killing blows on enemies.
All champions have a distinct crystal encrusted in their weapons and/or outfit.
